Here are some of the things you’ll find in John Waters’s new exhibition, opening April 3 at the Marianne Boesky Gallery: a Jackie O. doll dressed as Waters’s transvestite muse, Divine; a JFK doll dressed in a white gown and pearls; a “Have Sex in a Voting Booth” campaign button; and a print titled “Loser Gift Basket” (featuring a basket with items such as a Yanni CD, Preparation H, Sloe Gin, and a carton of Pall Malls, all tied with a pretty yellow ribbon). Yes, Waters is still successfully living up to the moniker William Burroughs gave him long ago (“the Pope of Trash”), and tonight, the cult filmmaker and artist will discuss the method to his sleaziness with Robert Storr, dean of the Yale University School of Art, as a part of 92Y’s Artists’ Visions series.
