'Mister Saturday Night Presents Moodymann & the Egyptian Lover'

Kenny Dixon, Jr., a/k/a Moodymann, combines the revolutionary èlan of Underground Resistance with a vintage soul sensibility, turning a century of black American music—and blaxploitation samples—into an abstract disco dream. His sets bridge the gaps between classic soul, Detroit techno, and the avant-garde. Freak-a-holic Egyptian Lover was part of Los Angeles's early '80s electro and proto-hip-hop scene long before being rediscovered by Morgan Geist and Andrew Weatherall; his live performance means good, dirty fun. With Eamon Harkin, James Friedman, Justin Carter and Twilite Tone.
