Bob Ross made painting look so pleasantly effortless. With the gentlest strokes creating happy little clouds and happy little trees, we were in a magical trance, transported into his canvas of forests and streams. And there's no way you could escape the '70s wear and Afro-do. The original DIY artist was pure style. Fans of this iconic man and his kitschy television show The Joy of Painting will celebrate him tonight at Beat the Devil Out of It!: A Bob Ross Tribute, an evening that includes a Bob Ross look-alike contest, a special exhibition of Ross-inspired artwork by actual Ross-certified painters (including live instructional painting), and a performance by the Bob Ross tribute dance group- the Titanium White Hot Dancers. This party would have made him so happy.
