A band seemingly made for the neon, Ray Bans-at-4 a.m. crowd at Studio B, England’s Late Of The Pier combine everything trendy and dancey and now: French house, mash-up weirdness, Nintendo noise, synth-rock, indie-tronica, post-post-punk, nü-new-wave—pretty much the distillation of what the free parties at SXSW looked like. Fellow Brits the Whip are a little more rooted in circa-2001 dance-punk, but pepper it with plenty of modern squiggle.
