Producer Earl Dax has provided many wayward young queers with a party or performance space to express themselves fully during his New York tenure, but none have been quite as magical as the short-lived but memorably destroyed weekly Delancey party "Unisex Salon" of 2006-'07. In the course of a brawl with his co-promoter, James Coppola, Dax ended up on the club floor, curled in the fetal position, while Justin Bond and Glenn Marla defended him from further insult and injury. The cause of "the incident" is still questioned, but the epithet Coppola screamed at Dax—Pussy Faggot!—lives on. Tonight, Dax celebrates his birthday and raises money for Dixon Place's HOT! Festival this summer (which he is curating) by re-creating the scene of that fateful night, with many of the same performers on hand: Bond, Marla, Joseph Keckler, the Modern Gypsies, and more.
