It's bad enough when Gregor Samsa, the traveling salesman of Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis, wakes one morning to find he's turned into an icky bug. But a puppet bug? That's really rough. Drama of Works' new play puppet KafKa uses The Metamorphosis as a framework to consider the life and peculiar perspective of Kafka himself (who also appears as a puppet, tortured by his brilliant puppet mind). Drama of Works, the folks responsible for the wicked annual Carnival of Samhain, bring together a cast of their gorgeous marionettes and talented puppeteers, under the direction of Gretchen Van Lente, for an evening of absurdist fun. Just leave the bug spray at home.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 7 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: April 22. Continues through May 10, 2009
