Claire's Knee

(Eric Rohmer, 1970) Literate and talky, this is the most accessible of Rohmer's six "moral tales." Brilliantly shot by the great cinematographer Nestor Almendros in the summer light of the Annecy region of France, it's a moderately engrossing story of bourgeois repression as mirrored in the temptations of an affianced vacationing young diplomat.
