Yep, her major label debut had too much elaboration for its own good. But its marketing oomph helped raise the visibility of this ambitious and deserving siren whom NYC hipsters should know all about. Her keen interplay with guitarist Romero Lubambo is all about the beguiling interplay two musicians can conjure on bossas and sambas they know by heart (and maybe a pop tune or two). The fact that percussionist Cyro Baptista is on board for both thrust and color makes the date even more intriguing.
