The latest installment in the Red Hot Organization's long-running series of AIDS-benefit compilations, this year's Dark Was the Night features exclusive tracks from virtually every A-list indie act currently burning up the blogosphere, including Grizzly Bear, the Decemberists, Iron and Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Spoon, and Arcade Fire. Obviously unconvinced that they've demonstrated the full might of their joint Rolodex, the set's curators, Aaron and Bryce Dessner, have now put together this accompanying live show (the proceeds go to Red Hot), and the lineup is no less impressive: David Byrne, Feist, Bon Iver, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Dirty Projectors, My Brightest Diamond, Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio, and the Dessners' own beloved Brooklyn band, the National. Come for the philanthropy, stay for the possibility of an all-star "We Are the World."
