Wild Bill

(Walter Hill, 1995). Brawny and sinewed, couch completely in flashback (and flashbacks within flashbacks), Wild Bill is a movie of big weather, thunderous fisticuffs, deafening shoot-outs, and a fabulous, unapologetically opaque wild man performance by Jeff Bridges. The movie slips into a groggy stupor before the end, but, on the whole, it’s spooky enough to justify director Walter Hill’s description of Deadwood as “a place of prophecy and vision.”
