HOUSE RULES

When reality TV becomes too real

"Our house," trilled Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, "is a very, very, very fine house." We don't know if Theresa Rebeck's new comedy, Our House, deserves such praise yet, though reviews from its Denver Center premiere proved encouraging. The script concerns the perky host of a popular reality-television program; when an obsessive fan arrives on the scene and a hostage drama ensues, the show takes a dark turn toward must-see TV. Michael Mayer helms a play that Rebeck describes as depicting "how the media culture in America is contributing to a sort of psychotic psychological landscape." Stars Christopher Evan Welch, Morena Baccarin, and Jeremy Strong perform that psychosis. Stay tuned.
