Riot in Cell Block 11

(Don Siegel, 1954). Neo-realism run amok, this terrific B-movie—produced by Walter Wanger after he served a bit of time for a crime of passion—was shot in the actual Folsom Prison. There were no stars although, as the psychopathic convict leader, Neville Brand surely deserved to become one.
