Wye Oak

This Baltimore duo plays a kind of neo-shoegaze Americana—think rootsy guitar strums encrusted with layers of fuzz. There’s not a lot of room in Wye Oak’s sound for vocal acrobatics, but on the band’s upcoming sophomore set, The Knot (due in July), singer Jenn Wasner uses the space she’s got wisely, countering the noise with her calming croon. With Pomegranates and Winter Gloves.
