As the many guests tonight (NY Oil, the So Fresh Band, Espinoza, Why G, more) will probably tell you repeatedly, we all owe DJ Kool Herc gratitude for inventing the breakbeat, making breakdancers bug out, and kickstarting hip-hop culture. Prized pupil Blastmaster KRS One is still one of the most kinetic performers in hip-hop, and will be especially pumped in this celebration of Hip Hop Appreciation Week.
