Ron Miles Quartet
Bill Frisell's favorite trumpeter has a hunt 'n' peck soloing style with just enough of a liquid feel to fool us into thinking he's not just choosing his notes one by one. There's judiciousness built into Miles's schema, and it's an approach that makes his music seem utterly of the moment. I arrived with a couple of doubts last time he played this venue but walked out a believer. With Moran, Sickafoose, and Wilson surrounding him, this gig should be even better.
