LICK THAT LOLLIPOP

When the artist Marilyn Minter—whose work is often described as pornographic—puts in an order for long-tongued models, you know she's up to something good. For her latest solo show, Green Pink Caviar, which ends June 12, Minter says she was inspired by the idea of "painting with my tongue," and gathered together some full-mouthed beauties to blow bubblegum bubbles and slurp up and spit out colorful candies and cake decorations off a pane of glass for her close-up paintings, photographs, and videos. Besides being beautiful to look at, Minter's work comments on our culture's empty pursuit of newer, shinier things to consume.
