The director's hunky brother, Faran Akhtar, plays the lead, in the role of an innocent youth from New Delhi who comes to Bombay in order to make it as a movie star who soon learns how to work the system to his advantage. His understated performance holds this many-stranded picture together and he manages to be sympathetic, even when breaking hearts.
