STRANGE THINGS

An opulent embrace of the macabre

More About

Bill T. Jonesinvites you to come to the dark side. His epic 2006 Bessie Award-winning Chapter/Chapel, designed in the round—with aptly intimate church pew seating—demonstrates mankind's grossest humanity, our deepest vulnerability, and most conflicting capabilities. Its final return to New York after an international tour features three stories presented in a series of interlaced flashbacks using narrative words, cryptic music, and haunting song to depict life and death in all its raw glory—the one-by-one strangling of a family has rarely been so bewitching, the act of a father killing his daughter never so evocative, and the story of two young boys stealing away to watch the sunrise never so suspenseful. Jones's company of wonderfully absorbing dancers, who are beyond in-tune with their characters, forces the audience to ponder how quickly life can go from beautiful to unbearably ugly, and the innocence lost in the process.
