A Man for All Seasons

(Fred Zinnemann, 1966). Orson Welles's marvellous cameo as Cardinal Wolsey is almost enough compensation for the boredom of enduring this pedestrian adaptation of Robert Bolt's play about Sir Thomas More's conflict with King Henry VIII. It's literate, sincere, and exhausting.
