EARTHLINGS, BEWARE

Women really are from Venus

Those who can appreciate a fine B movie—hey, it's not easy to do hilariously bad set design, a monster-laden plot, and cheesy acting just right—can't miss the revival of Mexican director Rogelio A. González's 1960 La Nave de los Monstruos (The Ship of Monsters), a tale of two women from Venus who journey to find men on other planets after the last male on Venus has died. Ah, if only it were that easy. Alas, it isn't, and the Venusian women must venture to Earth for some hombres (ladies, don't bother). Bringing the vintage sci-fi flick to eerie life is the string quartet Ethel and art-rock group Gutbucket, who have created a new and original score to accompany the film.
