Lupe

(Andy Warhol, 1966). How fleeting is superstardom. Edie Sedgwick’s last Warhol film was a prescient disaster—inspired by the 1944 death of film star Lupe Velez who planned an elegant suicide by Seconal but wound up drowning in the toilet bowl. In essence a color remake of Poor Little Rich Girl, Lupe features an Edie who is only interesting in so far as she is imitating “Edie Sedgwick” in an “Andy Warhol film.”
Wednesdays-Fridays, 1:30 p.m. Starts: June 24. Continues through June 26, 2009
