Like their first project, Hello Meth Lab in the Sun, which explored the seedy nature of drug production via a labyrinth of secret rooms, artists Justin Lowe and Jonah Freeman's latest, Black Acid Co-op, is a look at various underground subcultures and the places they inhabit. Wander from a clandestine drug lab (after a fiery explosion) to a dropout commune (where no one ever seems to do the dishes) to a university library (that is, a center for the study of "tears in reality") to a pirate radio station, all connected by hallways, waiting rooms, ducts, wires, and tubes. Given Lowe's expert eye for detail and Freeman's slick and contemporary style, the experience should be an elaborate, strange trip.
