GIVE ME PARK AVENUE

Lincoln Center looks East

The crowning achievement of last year's Lincoln Center Festival, the massive production of Zimmermann's Die Soldaten at the Park Avenue Armory, was moving in more than one sense—the audience viewed the shocking opera from mobile bleachers. This year, the festival returns to the awe-inspiring armory-as-innovative-theater-space with two of its productions: Le Théâtre Du Soleil's six-hour sociopolitical improv collection Les Éphémères, which opens tonight; and Chekhov International Theatre Festival's production of Pushkin's Boris Godunov, starting July 22. Other international companies setting up shop back at Lincoln Center's home campus include Hungary's Katona József Theatre, Poland's Narodowy Stary Teatr ,and Russia's Maly Drama Theatre.
