MACHINES, MACHINES, MACHINES

The barber and the farmer in the Dell . . . or Mac

Actors can be pretty hard to work with. So playwright Ethan Lipton found a way to bypass them completely. His latest, The Barber & the Farmer, is performed in its entirety by a one-year-old MacBook Pro. In fact, the only human onstage is Lipton himself, who presses "Play" to start the show, which is about a personal tragedy stemming from the mortgage crisis. Lipton hopes his new theatrical format wigs everyone out—watching a computer do something better than people isn't creepy enough, but he's "hoping that having the audience in the round will make everyone more uncomfortable." Sounds like a good time.
