'10 for $10 Tour'
For all of hardcore's puffed-chest posturing, expectorating 'singing,' and one-note, chugga-chugga guitar riffs, its bands are probably the most fan-conscious of any rock genre. If the singer sees kids falling in the mosh pit, he or she asks the audience to pick them up; the best groups limit their sets to 45 minutes to avoid slam-dance fatigue; and, of course, they continue the tradition of this afternoon's performance: The hardcore matinee, 10 bands for 10 bucks (no doubt earned from 83 minutes of minimum-wage work). Half of these bands could command a Hamilton alone on their own tour, so strike while it's a buyer's market. Includes Madball, Poison the Well, Terror, and more.
