Lovvers

The second band in a trend of "double V bands" (you'll have to thank Wavves for that), Nottingham's Lovvers have the mangled guitars and poppy sensibilities of a more keyed-up Dinosaur Jr. They cemented Pitchfork fandom with a cover of the Buzzcocks' "What Do I Get" at SXSW—their bouncy tracks such as "Human Hair" and "No Romantics" are shit gaze's grungy cousin, amped up on Pixy Stix, wagging their hooks like a mutt's tongue in a truck. Undeniably British, they do U.S. lo-fi as the Darkness spoofed cock rock—impeccably, with Top Shop good looks, and better than the originals almost to a fault. With Darlings and Stupid Party.
