'Metrostar Talent Challenge'

One very shrewd idea to fill a space during the dog (Mon)days of summer. No less than 60 hopefuls began the seven-week dwindle-down—and here they are, the finalists to duke it out vocally for the first prize, a multiday regular stint at the increasingly influential arena. Don't be misled into thinking this is a contest for newcomers. The winner could be a longtime familiar-in-the-community face.
