The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

Dir John Huston (1948). Huston's bleak and ambitious morality fable on the futility of greed, set in Mexico, has always been a tad overrated. Humphrey Bogart stars and is faultless as usual, but it's the director's dad, veteran Walter Huston, playing his role without his dentures, who steals the show as a garrulous old buzzard prospector.
