Phosphorescent

Matthew Houck, the indie-folk artist who goes by Phosphorescent, writes incandescent odes to Americana in the vein of Richard Thompson, Neil Young, and the artist to whom he's most often compared, Will Oldham. Recently, however, the rusty-haired singer has been dwelling in others' songs. His last album, To Willie, contained 11 covers of songs by the original redheaded stranger, Willie Nelson, which he coated in reverb and not much else. With Tune-Yards and Mike Bones.
