For the past two decades, David Byrne—artist, author, Talking Head, building player—has been exploring city streets, from Manhattan to Istanbul, on his folding bike. Now, he's written a book called Bicycle Diaries, about his many journeys on two wheels and why he believes there's no better way to see the world. Tonight, at the Barnes & Noble in Union Square, Byrne will be on hand for the discussion titled "Cities, Bicycles, and the Future of Getting." Joining him is Paul Steely White (Transportation Alternatives), Janette Sadik-Kahn (NYC Department of Transportation), and Mitchell Joachim (Professor at Columbia and Parsons).
Tue., Sept. 22, 7 p.m., 2009
