Though the kids on Degrassi never mention it, Toronto's ambient doom metal scene is rife with bands such as Nadja, a mysterious power duo who make music that sounds like they're gestating a giant snack. Composed of Aidan Baker and Leah Buckareff (he: tall and stoner-y, she: short and pixie), tracks such as "Stays Demons" and "You Are As Dust" take the airy fuzz of My Bloody Valentine and inject it with drone, gloom, and sass, plus occasional woodwind solos. We assure you that Kevin Drew is not associated with this project.
