ART WITH A VIEW

Artists take over DUMBO

For the 13th year in a row, surreal art comes to life in DUMBO at the Art Under the Bridge Festival, where more than 80 projects will consume the historical waterfront area. With this year's theme focusing on the rise of technology, the recession, homelessness, and environmental issues, you can come check out workshops, art walks, installations, and much more. Some of the highlights include an installation involving oyster shells ("River's Edge"), a performance about New York as a post-gold-rush town ("Welcome to NYC"), an "Eco-disco," and . . . a werewolf? That last one would be Ryan Roth's piece "Stir Crazy," his take on the economy with a caged, endangered creature called the "business werewolf." And, leaving you no choice but to get lost in the experience, artist Angela Silver will be replacing the words on traffic signs with multi-lingual poetics. Don't bother bringing a map—or a watch.
