It's no surprise that trying to dig up info on Dain, the Brooklyn-born street artist, is a complicated task. But when in Brooklyn, it's hard to miss this talented artist's striking wheatpasted collages that blend old-school 1940s black-and-white portraits with a stylish use of vibrant neon colors and clippings from newspapers and magazines. Fittingly, Brooklynite Gallery—one of the best galleries in Brooklyn because of its focus on bringing street artists to the masses—is giving Dain his first solo show. Titled Copasetic, the exhibit evokes the heyday of Hollywood glamour, with subjects including Groucho Marx and Clark Gable, and the innocence of the Coney Island of yesteryear, "when families spent the day on amusement rides and, in the evening, common folk mixed with celebrities in nightclubs like the Copacabana." Should be a grand old time.
