FRENCH KISS

Bid adieu to summer with Phoenix

France's Phoenix have spent loads of time in America this year, and in return, America has made Phoenix the indie-pop breakout act of 2009. This week, shortly before they hightail it back to Europe for a hero's homecoming, these super-cool softies hit New York to play a pair of outdoor shows that should close out the summer-concert season in style. The band's latest is Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, a totally genius title more or less justified by a handful of beyond-breezy disco-rock jams, including "Lisztomania" and "1901." Electro-pop openers Passion Pit have suffered no shortage of buzz this year, either; expect their big blog hit "Sleepyhead" to instigate a hearty sing-along here.
Fri., Sept. 25, 7 p.m.; Sat., Sept. 26, 7 p.m., 2009
