Frank spent a few years in Conakry, Guinea, immersing himself in the sounds (and record shops) of West Africa, and recording it all on his Voodoo Funk blog. Lately, he's been gracing Glasslands—quite possibly the most rewarding little club in New York, thanks in part to its big stacks of amps—with a roughly monthly party focused on vintage Nigerian funk in all of its percussive, horn-y, wah-wah glory.
