Jay Reatard

After playing in every band on every label on every song in the Nashville music scene (a fuzzed-out execution showcased on 2008's Matador Records singles comp), 2009's Watch Me Fall acknowledges Reatard's death wish with overblown, poppy drama in two-minute increments. Though recent documentary Waiting For Something worked hard to portray Reatard as an industrious genius who always wears the same Strapping Fieldhands t-shirt, they couldn't stop the Elvis comparisons. Fittingly, take this quote from a recent Voice interview: "Most of the time, what's wrong with you is more interesting that what's right. What's right with you is fucking boring." With Box Elders, Hunx, and more.
