THE LARAMIE LEGACY

What we can learn from Matthew Shepard

It’s just one week short of 11 years since a 21-year-old college student was brutally murdered by homophobic attackers in Laramie, Wyoming. That state still does not have a hate-crimes law on the books. But many other states do—and that’s in no small part due to Judy Shepard’s tireless efforts to ensure her son’s death was not in vain. Hear the aggrieved mother turned activist discuss hate speech, violence, and appreciating diversity in this talk on The Legacy of Matthew Shepard.
