The all-points attack that the young bassist’s trio makes on the material comprising the new *Entry* is cagey indeed. Sometimes drummer Obed Calviere takes the lead with a compass; sometimes trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire is up front with a sextant. Always Oh sees to it that her restless tunes are dealt with in a graceful manner that doesn’t preclude a mighty determination becoming the threesome’s signature sound. This is shape-shifting music, happy to conjure the exclamation of the lofts while keeping everything as cogent and lyrical as possible.
