Tarzan and His MateBy Ellliott SteinWednesday, October 7th 2009 at 3:40amDir. Cedric Gibbons, Jack Conway (1934). The best Tarzan movie ever made, this action-packed story was the second of the Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan) and Maureen O'Sullivan (Jane) couplings. It's notable for its violence, pre-Code sexual candor and lack of clothes. The monkeys are awesome and do everything but bake cakes. It's credited to Gibbons, although he was taken off it early in production and replaced by Jack Conway who directed most of the exciting flick. Recent ArticlesMore by Ellliott Stein
