WRITER'S HIGH

In Stephen Elliott's fascinating new book The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir of Moods, Masochism, and Murder, he writes, "My psychiatrist lives just down the street from me. I can walk there. I see her once a month, or once every three months, and she prescribes my pills. The pills make me crazy, I know that, but I don't see the alternative." Tonight, at this reading and party sponsored by the brainiacs at n+1 magazine, Elliott tells you about his romps in San Francisco's underground s/m scene, the bizarre murder trial he became obsessed with, and how it helped him overcome a severe case of writer's block. The evening is also a launch party for n+1's Issue 8 (the theme is "Recessional"), and, of course, drinks will be served, but you have to bring your own pills.
