Quiz time: Have you read On the Roadmore than 10 times? Have you been to the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics in Boulder, Colorado? Have you ever attended the Lowell Celebrates Kerouac festival in Massachusetts? If you answered yes to at least one of these (please seek professional help if you said yes to all of them), you surely already know about the new documentary One Fast Move or I’m Gone: Kerouac’s Big Sur. Tonight is the special early premiere of the film (it officially opens October 20). The documentary concerns the years Kerouac spent in Big Sur and the Beat haunts of San Francisco and New York, with Kerouac-influenced artists such as Sam Shepard, Patti Smith, and Tom Waits weighing in on the author’s impact. A Q&A with director Curt Worden and producers Gloria Bailen and Jim Sampas follows.
