Raveonettes

Raveonettes' dark reimagining of the Nuggets sound has been mostly benign over the years (except for their 2007 disc, Lust Lust Lust, which was delightfully experimental), but their latest album, In and Out of Control, finds them taking a surprising stab at social commentary. Its fourth track, "Boys Who Rape (Should All Be Destroyed)," is a catchy pop song cooed, no less, by the duo's Sharin Foo; its Phil Spector-esque production only underscores the message. This sort of triumph only shows how far they've come from their 2002 breakthrough, "Attack of the Ghost Riders." With the Black Angels.
