The Yes Men, whose goal it is to bring about social change via astonishing pranks—from punking the BBC to distributing a fake New York Times issue with the headline "Iraq War Ends"—may not be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize any time soon. But tonight, they'll receive the Leonore Annenberg Prize for Art and Social Change, with an introduction by Amy Goodman, at the kick-off party for the Creative Time Summit: Revolutions in Public Practice. A pass for $35 ($25 for students and seniors) will get you access to the awards ceremony as well as to Saturday's program of insightful presentations on the myriad ways art can bring awareness and change to the pressing issues facing our world. The day starts with a morning prayer by Reverend Billy and features artist-led discussions on topics from "Social Organizing as Aesthetic Act" to "Crisscrossing Geo-Political Boundaries."
Fri., Oct. 23, 6 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 24, 10 a.m., 2009
