BUZZWORTHY

Sarah Ruhl looks behind closed doors

If you missed Dixon Place's Peg-Ass-Us, a recent show about women who use strap-ons to penetrate their male partners, there's another piece of theater that will hopefully satiate your desire for sex-toy theatricality. One of Off-Broadway's in-demand playwrights, Sarah Ruhl makes her Broadway debut with In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play), which is just that—a dramatic history of the electronic pleasure device. Michael Cerveris plays a late-19th-century doctor who uses a nifty new therapy in his home office that cures "hysteria" in women, and Laura Benanti plays the wife who hears the orgasmic results from the other side of the door.
