Dark Meat are hippie-punks in the classic, musty vein of Butthole Surfers or Meat Puppets—the only difference being that there's, like, two dozen of them touring in a big green school bus. Their upcoming second album, Truce Opium, has a better mastery of what to do with their massive horn section, focusing more on ecstatic textures than wild freakouts, though their show will probably still have its share of wild, 20-person sound pileups.
