'Fang Records Night'

During the '80s and '90s, Chris Rael's scrappy Fang Records specialized in off-kilter pop releases that blurred genre lines with humor and panache. This bill reunites some of the label's prime movers, including eclectic and clownish Michael Holt of the Mommyheads; the Ditty Committee, who compare themselves to "Randy Newman having sex with an old Casio in the frozen food section of the Museum of Natural History"; Church of Betty bandleader Chris Rael, who still does Indo-pop better than anyone; and 101 Crustaceans' Ed Pastorini, who wails in microtonal despair from the bottom of New York's loneliest cracked heart.
