A night of pagan rituals and acid-dabbled acoustic plucking, as the 1973 cult flick The Wicker Man gets its haunting Paul Giovanni score remade by some contemporary magick makers. The original score was like a blueprint for freak-folk—breezy mountain melodies gently strummed with more than a little black mysticism and creepy nursery rhymes. It couldn't be reinterpreted by three better bands: Locals Silver Summit have the spectral folk thing down to a weird science, Effi Briest specializes in hypnotic trance-outs, and Wooden Shjips are pros at the goosebumpy riff.
