Carsick Cars

As the Beijing indie label Maybe Mars pulls into town to (perhaps) show us the future of rock music as a "Made in China" brand name this week (with shows at Glasslands and Columbia as well), the band most likely to succeed stateside remains Carsick Cars. Fronted by twentysomething guitarist Zhang Shouwang (who has performed with everyone from Elliott Sharp to Manuel Göttsching), the trio careens from spiky punk-pop to all-out noise bliss and back. Which means they sorta sound like Sonic Youth. Fitting, as they've opened for them as well. With PK14, Knyfe Hyts.
