Given emo-punk group Say Anything's prolific output—their second album was a double-disc set with guest appearances by Pete Yorn, Gerard Way, Chris Carrabba, and a bevy of lesser names—they should maybe have set their sights higher than releasing a mere 13-song self-titled record. A Broadway play, perhaps? After all, frontman Max Bemis tells melodramatic stories that rival the Great White Way's angstiest dramedies (song titles include "Hate Everyone," "Death for My Birthday," and "Young, Dumb, and Stung"), and his band crafts orchestral arrangements that sound eerily similar to Duncan Sheik's Spring Awakening score.
