Cyro Baptisto & Beat the Donkey

An artistic settlement worth supporting, John Zorn's Tzadik label provides shelter to some of the best music being recorded by anyone, Jewish or otherwise. Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista celebrates the release of his new Infinito with what should be a romping pastiche of traditional rhythms and outside jazz-rock. Guitarist Eyal Maoz's quartet, Edom, distills haunted-warehouse prog-rock (with a Sephardic tinge) into the grooves of their new Hope and Destruction. And Wollesonic channels the mad-scientist impulses of drummer Kenny Wolleson and friends into a multimedia neo-brass band spectacle.
